With the recent announcement of the candidacy of Pat Toomey for the US senate race in Pennsylvania there seems to be some confusion as to the background of former congressman Toomey. Some have confused him with Pat Toomay of the Dallas Cowboys, but the two men are definitely different people.

The football player Pat Toomay was a defensive end back in the early 1970’s.  I believe he was drafted in 1970 (see below). The candidate for Senate Pat Toomey is too young to have been the Cowboy and his name is spelled differently.  Most of the below sites are not necessarily authoritative sites (some misspell Toomay’s name), but they serve to verify the dates of Toomay’s tenure with the Cowboys.

Pat Toomey is a former three-term congressman from Pennsylvania who has distinguished himself as a national advocate for limited government, lower taxes and personal freedom. Pat Toomey has earned recognition from the Council for Citizens against Government Waste, Americans for Tax Reform, the National Taxpayers’ Union and the US Chamber of Commerce through his dedication to conservative principles.
